I designed a spatial narrative project based on the theme "Weeping may endure during the night, but joy will come in the morning," exploring ways of shaping and calibrating a range of volumes to generate spatial drama. This abstract exercise focuses on the potential for combinations of form and light to influence one’s experience of space, presenting four chapters that depict a journey from darkness to light: descending into an underground void, enduring monotony and repetition, finding direction, and stepping into the light to see a rainbow. The entire earth-sheltered structure uses light and pathways to shape the spatial experience.
Chapter 1: Nightfall
Visitors descend into an endless darkness, with only faint starlike light filtering through skylights.
Chapter 2: Endurance
Narrow beams of light pierce through gaps, illuminating the walls. In a spiraling ascent, one moves forward in solitude, seeking meaning.
Chapter 3: Dawn
Soft, diffused light from expansive skylights fills the space, yet the windows themselves remain out of sight, creating an aura of mystery and hope.
Chapter 4: Radiance
Rainbow light refracted through prisms illuminates the ground-level space, evoking profound joy and a sense of liberation.
我以“Weeping may endure during the night, but joy will come in the morning.”
